I have temporarily shut down user comments beneath articles. I did this because I am actually embarrassed by some of the participants.
I will have to think about how to handle this because having an endless stream of off-topic postings, advertisements for other people's web sites, and amazing displays of shear ignorance, have finally reached the point where I either have to shut this comment thing down or walk away.
Never-ending idiocy, every day, has reached its limit and I have NEITHER the time, nor the desire, to put all the comments into moderation and spend all day deciding what should appear.
