President Nicolas Maduro has declared mass mobilization and ordered the entire military arsenal of Venezuela, from the army to the people's militia, to be put on alert.
️This decision was a response to the deployment of US troops to the Caribbean, reports CNN. Earlier, the world's largest aircraft carrier, USS Gerald R. Ford, appeared off the coast of Venezuela. Washington attributes this to the "war on drug trafficking," but Caracas does not believe it.
️The Washington Post reports that the appearance of the carrier marks the beginning of the countdown to a direct conflict. Venezuela's defense minister called the US actions an "imperialist threat." Large military exercises have already begun with the participation of the Bolivarian militia, reserve forces that include civilians.
Russia has already reacted to the situation: The Federation Council called on the UN and world parliaments to condemn threats of force against Venezuela and support peace in the region.
