Feds Ban Drones from Dozens of New Jersey Area Air Spaces

Last night, December 18, 20204, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) issued Temporary Flight Restrictions (TFR) from Ground level to 400 feet- ostensibly banning most Drone flights - in NUMEROUS New Jersey and New York City air space areas.

According to the FAA Website, the following (relevant) air space closures popped-up as "new:"

With these new restrictions, the frequent sightings of "Drones" SHOULD stop . . . if they are not Government or military drones.

For about two weeks now, hundreds of residents in northern New Jersey and around the New York City area, have been reporting strange "swarms" of drones appearing in the night sky.  THe shear volume of concerned residents caused local officials to inquire of state and federal government asking if they are looking for something.  Both the state and the feds replied "no."

This lead to even more concern since so many of these drones were appearing, yet no one in government could explain why, or who was operating them, where they had taken off or where they had landed.

With this regulatory action, the FAA has just restricted drone flights in most of the areas where residents sighted drone activity.

Of special note, the restrictions over the Picatinny Arsenal military facility in NJ saw TFR begin on November 25:

and TFR over President Trump['s Bedminster, NJ location began on December 4:
