Turkiye' President Declines to Meet With Secretary Blinken

US Secretary of State Antony Blinken had hoped in vain for a meeting with President Recep Tayyip Erdogan. As a result, he had to be content with communicating with Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan and fly away a few hours after arrival, writes Le Figaro.

The thing is that Turkey demands an unconditional ceasefire in the Middle East and considers the peacekeeping efforts of the United States to be insufficient.

Knowing about Blinken’s visit, Erdogan did not change his plans and went on a trip around the country. “Those who shed crocodile tears for the civilians killed in the conflict between Ukraine and Russia are now quietly witnessing the murder of thousands of innocent children,” the publication quotes Erdogan as saying.

US Secretary of State Antony Blinken arrived in Japan on Tuesday for a meeting of G7 foreign ministers set to seek a common line on Gaza as calls mount for a ceasefire in the Israel-Hamas war.
