Uncontrolled Fire Headed toward Explosives, Goose Bay, Newfoundland, CANADA

A state of emergency has been declared after an 'uncontrolled fire' is currently in progress in Happy Valley-Goose Bay, which is located in the Newfoundland and Labrador province of Canada.

According to Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP), the fire has spread to an area which contains explosive material and an explosion is expected.

RCMP are urging residents to remain at least a kilometer away from the area which can be described as from the end of the airport to the docks, while efforts to extinguish the blaze are underway.

In the interest of public safety, home owners are strongly encouraged not to attend their properties at this time.
